The Darkness is a first person shooter videogame developed by Starbreeze Studios and published by 2K Games. The game was released on Ps3 and Xbox 360.
The critically and commercially acclaimed comic, the Darkness, finally has a dedicated game. Many fans await this game announced since the launch of the next-gen consoles but the question is: will it be able to keep the standards of the comic and not deceive its millions of readers'
In The Darkness, you play as Jackie Estacado, 21 year old male. The godfather of NY's mafia seems to have a dilemma with our young hero and wants him dead. However, on the eve of his birthday, he cheats death. He has been possessed by a spirit who calls himself The Darkness. This spirit allows him to have super human powers and constantly avoid death. While on his search for the godfather, Jackie will encounter many events that will lead him to his greatest adventure yet.
As aforementioned, this is a first person shooter in which you'll have, as always, a huge arsenal at your disposal to destroy all the unnatural creatures. The particularity of the game is of course the use of The Darkness's powers. You'll be able to summon imp creatures to fight by your side or use the "dark tentacles" to stab your enemies or even a "black hole" to make your enemies disappear. Being called The Darkness, you will be able to use the spirit's full strength only in the darkest places. Sometimes you'll have to create such atmosphere by shooting out the lights or others.
The Darkness follows perfectly the ambiance of the comic, even if the story is not exactly the same, and all its particularities are kept. Plus, graphically the game is astonishing and New York has never been so well represented. Fans of the series, or just of fictional FPS, prepare yourselves for one of the best games on the next gen consoles.
