Blue Dragon is an RPG released on Xbox 360 on August 28, 2007, developed by Artoon and published by Mistwalker. This game was produced by the creator of the Final Fantasy saga, Hironobu Sakaguchi, and the charac design was entrusted to the famous mangaka, author of Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama. There is also Nobuo Uematsu, who made the soundtrack of the game.

We embody Shu a young boy living in the village of Talta. Each year the village suffered the attack of a sand shark which forces villagers to find refuge in the mountains. But Shu and his friends Kluke and Jiro, are tired of seeing their villages destroyed each year, and they decided to develop a plan to get rid of this plague. However, the plan went wrong, and they were swept away by the shark, which is actually a machine, and found themselves in the flying fortress of Nene, an evil old man responsible for damage caused to Talta, and for other disasters that appeared throughout the world. Within this fortress, the 3 children discovered a strange power that allows them to use their shadows to fight?

The player will therefore have to put an end to the evil plans of Nene. We take control of Shu and his team in a colorful world, recalling strongly Dragon Quest. The combat system is very classical and has an old school side that can rebuke players who wanted something more original. But even if it is a turn-based fight system like in many RPG, it remains efficient and interesting. There is a class system which gives the shadows various capacities, bringing some variety to the clashes.

Even if it does not revolutionize the genre, Blue Dragon is a good RPG with an enchanting universe.

Blue Dragon reviews

Blue Dragon is an unexceptional RPG that does just enough to escape mediocrity.
