Insecticide, published by Gamecock Media Group and Crackpot Ent, was launched June 13rd, 2008. The game mixes many genres to bring straightforward adventure with 3d platformer all together.

You are Chrys Liszt, a rookie detective working with her senior partner, Roachy Caruthers, a cockroach. You investigate a homicide, sorry an insecticide, at the Nectarola soft drink plant in the future city of Troi where insects have taken over. Mankind represents only a few survivors who symbolize nothing in this new world.
The plot is a representation of dated cop shows and 70s crime movies, the only difference is the characters, being insects. Like many games of its kind, the text is full of references, humor and inside jokes to fans of this genre. (Bug cop names such as Silverfishberg or McMantis)

The innovation comes down to the new game play. In each level you'll alternate between adventure and 3D platforms, it almost feels like you're playing two games at once. Let?s not forget about the action, be ready to destroy hundreds of bugs in this new world while at the same time solving some classic puzzles.

Nevertheless, this game is dedicated to the amateurs of jak and daxter or ratchet and clank like games as Insecticide pretty much follows their footsteps without bringing anything really new and just improving what the others have created.

Insecticide reviews

Insecticide can't decide whether it wants to be an adventure or a platformer, so it does neither particularly well.

Insecticide previews

Private dicks and dames, mobs and murder -- the familiar players, tropes, and vices that populate the hard-boiled crime story are evidently as resilient as cockroaches. Even in a terrifying future world where man no longer exists and insects have seized the reigns as the planet's dominant race, noir lives on, cast with the pests that hopefully aren't living in your walls right now.
