Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is a first-person shooter video game developed by several companies as it was released for many platforms ( Xbox, PlayStation 3, Windows, Mac OS) and published by Activision between 2007 and 2008. It is a single-player and multiplayer game.

Enemy Territory is an original game but it takes place in the same universe than the game series Quake. It was generally well-received by critics, and was praised particularly for its multiplayer mode.

It was also acclaimed for its graphics and its storyline, but depending on the platforms the several versions do not offer the same qualities.

The storyline deals with an alien race called the Stroggs (kind of cyborgs). After these creatures had fought out their civil on their homeplanet, they decided to venture out in space to conquer other planets and study other races to integrate them into their own.

In 2060 they arrive in the area of the Earth that is unfortunately their new target. But the Global Defense Force is completely overwhelmed by the attack of these highly advanced alien forces.

Nevertheless the humans do not give up and fight for their survival. If you do not intervene the earth will eventually fall into the hands of the Stroggs.
So your mission is to avoid this catastrophe. For the single-player mode you will have to complete missions and objectives to go through the game.

Enemy Territory can be considered as a successor of the game Wolfenstein enemy Territory; indeed it focuses on objectives driven gameplay rather than just capturing flags like you do in the Battlefield series.

That is to say that you have, for each battle, one team which has to fulfill an objective while the other needs to guard it.

To make your objectives even more complex to achieve you will have sometimes to complete them with a specific class.

The two opposite forces are the humans and the Stroggs for each side you have different classes of warriors with different resources and armaments. For each human class there is its opposite but their functioning is also different.

This means that while both teams have a medic, they both function differently. The GDF medic for example behaves like every other medic by instant reviving his teammates but the Strogg technician needs a few seconds before his dead companion is alive again.

To balance this out, the Strogg technician can turn dead GDF soldiers into spawn hosts. So if he dies, he respawns at such a host (if it hasn't been destroyed).

Concerning the multiplayer mode it differs greatly from the traditional one. That is right that you will have to complete a list of objectives, but you can also force your enemy to retreat, and as you finish three or four objectives you can advance in the game.
