Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is an action/adventure videogame developed by Oddworld Inhabitants and published by Electronic Arts. It was released exclusively on Xbox.
Welcome back to the Oddworld. After having saved the mudokons and the Gabbits, Abe takes some vacations to let a new character have his own game in this fictional universe. Stranger's wrath has nothing to do with previous games and is not part of the Oddworld Quintology (considered as a bonus like Abe's Exoddus).
The game follows a character simply known as Stranger. He's a bounty hunter who catches criminals for money. During his daily activities, he hears of a certain town being controlled by a demon called Sekto. The town was the homeland of the Steef, a species gone extinct. Sekto is the one responsible for such thing and continues his quest to exterminate all remaining creatures and offers a bounty to our hero to finish the work. However, some things remain hidden and unexpected revelations will appear during the game.
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, as said before, has nothing to do with the previous Oddworld games, and that goes for the gameplay too. The game mixes both first and third person perspectives. In other words, the game changes between from platform and stealth events to shooter phases. Stranger's main weapon is a crossbow which has the particularity of using live insects as ammo. Each insect will have different effects on the enemy and must be used at specific moments. A real important aspect of the game is of course the fact that you can catch and sell enemies for money. Be careful not to kill them all, as they're worth more money alive.
Oddworld: Stranger's wrath is, once again, a great installment in the Oddworld series. However, the game is really different and the uniqueness of Oddworld is lost. Unfortunately, this will be the last game to ever occur in Oddworld as the developers have left the videogame industry for the one of motion pictures. That is reason enough to try it out.
