Halo 3 is a first person shooter video game developed by Bungie Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios. It was launched exclusively for the Xbox 360.
Master Chief is back for his conclusion in this third episode of the Halo games. Halo 3 is the first one on the next-gen console and the difference is felt immediately. New features, better graphics, better gameplay. Discover the 26th century like never before.
Occurring in 2553, Master Chief returns to earth to fight against the mighty Covenant who are seeking to annihilate the human race. Back on solid ground, you meet with members of the army and plan one of the last hopes of humanity. Your mission is to stop the Covenant leader, the High Prophet of Truth from activating a Forerunner artifact that will create a space portal. Unfortunately, the mission is a failure and you and the Covenant are sent into the portal. Humanity is falling to the hands of the extraterrestrials and once again, Master Chief will have to prevent such thing from happening.
The gameplay follows the one from the previous games; as to say that this is a modern first person shooter. Weapons and vehicles from Halo 1 & 2 also have been included. But the novelty is now the apparition of Equipment and support weapons. Equipment consists of different power-ups that will improve your capacities for a while or useful items for certain locations (flares). The support weapons are huge weapons that demand both hands and have the advantage of being particularly strong and having great firepower. However, they will slow you down and limit your combat options. The campaign mode will have you travel threw 9 different levels that you can play either alone or in co-op mode.
Halo 3 finishes the trilogy in the best way possible. Even if the game isn't really innovative, we find all the key elements of the success of the 2 previous games and they all have been improved. For any owner of the Xbox and the Xbox 360, these games should already be in your collection.
Halo 3 builds upon the concepts of Halo 2 in ways that you'd expect, but there are also new modes and options that send the series in exciting new directions.
