Hellboy: The Science of Evil is a beat-them-up game developed by Krome Studios and published by Konami.

With the movie approaching, it was obvious that we were going to have a game to play with the hornless devil. Hellboy comes back in a brand new adventure to destroy everything in his path. Your mission: stop a certain Hermann Von Klempt, Nazi, from unveiling his evil plan and spreading doom all over the world. You'll have to do everything to stop him.

Hellboy is a classic beat-them-up. You'll go through levels as one of the 4 playable characters (Hellboy, Abe Sapein, Liz Sherman, and Lobster Johnson) unleashing hell on your many, many enemies. You'll have the possibility to use Hellboy's Right hand of Doom to summon your supernatural strength allowing for some intense combats and some flying enemies. Also, the environments can be used (or destroyed, you are Hellboy) to take down many enemies at the time (or tossing a straggler into the crowd is quite useful too).

The game also comes with an on and offline multiplayer modes that will let you live the story with some friends. The cooperative mode is well done and gives the game the fun that it sometimes misses. Hellboy: The Science of Evil is a fun game that adds nothing to the genre and doesn't have particular qualities that make him stand out (If you like big mean monsters, you should better try the incredible Hulk) but if you're a fan of the comic book, the game recreates well the universe as the creative direction was done by no other than the comic book creator Mike Mignola and movie director Guillermo del Toro.

Hellboy: Science of Evil reviews

The combat in Hellboy gets repetitive before the first level ends and never presents a challenge. This is a boring, bland game.
