Haze is a first person shooter videogame developed by Free Radical Design and published by Ubisoft. It was launched exclusively for the Sony PS3.
The time of super soldiers has arrived. The classic wars with swords and classic guns are over. In a near future, soldiers are given drugs to have faster reactions to their environment and mostly to be much stronger than a classic human being.
During a 3-day period, you'll be sent on missions in South America to fight against a terrorist organization that goes by the name of "The Promise Hand". To help you defeat them easily, you are given a special drug called nectar that enhances your abilities. This drug is distributed by Mantel Global Industries and has the effects of making the user stronger and smarter. In addition, it also has a hallucinogenic effect that replaces the battlefield environment by an utopist place. You form part of a squad lead by Morgan Duvall. Duvall is very attentive to the doses you take as they allow him to do his dirty work without getting noticed. However, following some events, you'll stop taking the drugs and realizes that your own squad is the one doing the atrocities. Is it time to question sides'
Haze is a futuristic FPS that gains all of its personality with the use of the nectar. The enhancive drug will increase your speed as well as your accuracy. Plus, with its hallucinogenic effects, the enemies stand out clearly (appearing in bright orange) and their bodies will disappear to reduce the image of death. However, as you quickly turn sides, you'll be the one fighting against super soldiers and will have to use the lack of nectar to your advantage. The game comes with a co-op mode where you and your friend can play the adventure in split screen (also comes with an online mode where all the 4 members of the squad can be played).
Haze is an FPS that tries to vary the genre. However the game received mediocre critics, most of them criticizing its particularly short storyline. Nevertheless, it provides good thrills and good action sequences that should satisfy the less exigent players.
