Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles is an action/platform videogame developed and published by Konami. The game was released exclusively for the PSP.

Dracula is back once again to spread chaos around the world. The Dracula X chronicles is no other than a remake of Castlevania: Dracula X released on the Super Nintendo. However, new generation of consoles means new possibilities and, here, to honor the series; Konami remodeled entirely their game in 3D (but is still a 2D scrolling game).

In 1792, Richter Belmont is the heir to the Vampire Killer whip and lives in the village next to the castle of the defeated Dracula. However, the prince of darkness is brought back to life by the Dark Priest Shaft, and is ready to spread terror. Quickly, he manages to destroy the village and kidnaps our hero's girlfriend Annette, Maria Renard (another vampire slayer), and a couple of villagers. As always, Richter will have to follow Dracula into his castle to rescue his beloved girlfriend and destroy once and for all his archenemy.

For this new edition, Konami has brought some minor changes. Even if the gameplay remains pretty much the same, some new enemies have been added as well as alternate passages and endings. The player will have the opportunity to save his girlfriend but it is not mandatory and you can still finish the game without rescuing her (even if it is not the true ending). A couple of bosses have been added and some new puzzles. But in general, you still fight with your whip to destroy everything in your way with the possibility to use the now famous secondary weapons (knife, axe, cross, etc.). In addition the game offers a couple of bonuses which, in castlevania, have a real value (the artwork by Ayami Kojima and the music from Symphony of the night).

Castlevania: The Dracula X chronicles is a great a remake and gives the opportunity to the younger generation to discover one of the best games of the Super Nintendo and for the older players, the chance to rediscover a game they loved years ago. To be tried by any owner of Sony's console.
