Dissidia: Final Fantasy is an action fighting game currently in development by Square Enix. The game is coming exclusively to Sony PSP.

How long have fans waited for a chance to battle using the most charismatic characters from the greatest RPG saga from all times... Well, the wait is over. Square Enix has started working on Dissidia and not only is it the first game to include cast members from all of the episodes but it is also the first fighting game that Square Enix has launched.

Little has been revealed about the story of the game. All we know is that each character will have its own story and you'll have to finish all of them if you want to unlock all the secrets. Nevertheless, this is a fighting game and rarely has there been an importance accorded to this aspect (but once again, this is Square Enix and anything can be expected).

What is known is some of the characters that will be playable. There will be at least one character from each Final Fantasy game (except the XII and the upcoming XIII), either a hero or a villain or sometimes both. From the recent games, Tidus and Jecht will be present (FFX) as well as Zidane (FFIX). From previous games we have, and probably the most awaited, Sephiroth (FFVII) and Kefka (FFVI), the two worst, yet most interesting, villains in the saga.

Concerning the gameplay, Dissidia will be playable in three dimensions with characters able to move in any direction they wish for. Combos are of course possible and the game takes back the "Limit Break" from FFVII (called here: "Break") which mainly consists in entering an improved stats state (in other words, massive damage will be inflicted). Each character will have its own abilities and attacks.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy is the fighting game that all Final Fantasy fans have been waiting. All we can do now is wait for more information to be revealed and of course the game itself.
