Stranglehold

Stranglehold is a third person shooter videogame developed and published by Midway. The game was released on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

John Woo, master of action films, is now trying to conquer the videogame world with Stranglehold. Being a sequel to one of films (Hard Boiled), we can pretty much expect great action sequences and amazing effects. Inspector Tequila is back in service to wipe the city clean.

Starting in Hong Kong, an officer disappears without leaving any traces until the police department receives a note for ransom. Tequila volunteers to find the man but quickly finds his badge and a picture of his dead body. Nevertheless, he doesn't give up and pursue the kidnappers that lead him to Wong. He's the boss of the mafia group called Dragon Claw and also the father of your ex-wife, Billie. Both she and her daughter have been kidnapped. From Hong Kong to Chicago, you will do everything in your power to find them in this game worthy of any action film.

Like any John Woo film, the game is filled with gun fights and action sequences. All most all the elements of the environment are destructible and can be used to defeat enemies. The graphics are beautiful and you can instantly recognize Chow Yun-Fat, Inspector tequila in Hard-boiled. In a third-person view, you'll have many guns to toy with or simply your fists to get rid of the hundred of enemies. You can also use the "tequila Time" (like Bullet time), where everything slows down and gives you the time to aim and shoot.

Stranglehold is the first game John Woo has worked on and the result is incredible. For the first time, we can live one of his movies and the feeling is amazing. One of the first great action games on the next-gen consoles.

Stranglehold reviews

For as long as it lasts, Stranglehold delivers a satisfying, if somewhat derivative action game experience.
