Manhunt 2

Manhunt 2 is an action, stealth and psychological survival horror video game developed and published by Rockstar, released between 2007 and 2008 for PlayStation, PlayStation Portable and Wii This is a single-player game.

This game received mixed reviews from the gaming press in comparison with the first game Manhunt. The gameplay and the storyline were considered as quite good but they could have been even better. However it is certain that Manhunt 2 features nice and interesting gameplay elements and an original plot.

As its predecessor there was a high controversy concerning its extremely violent and bloody content. Some attempts were even made to cancel the release of the game.

Manhunt 2 does not build upon the story and events of the first game. Instead the game is transferred to a new location, the Dixmor Insane Asylum, where unfortunately the staff prefers to beat up the patients and experiment on them, rather than to offer treatment for their illness.

One day a power outage allows the patients to revolt and bring mayhem to the asylum. You will get the chance to play two roles: as Dr. Daniel Lamb and Leo Kasper. Although the beginning is set inside the asylum, the action soon moves to other locations.

Manhunt is a study in what drives a man to madness and to what extremes he will go to discover the truth. Your character does not remember much but he is able to fill in bits and pieces through flashbacks and with the help of his fellow inmate and constant companion Leo.

Throughout the game you will begin to remember more and more, he finds himself getting to the bottom of a medical experiment called The Project, as well as just how involved he was in its development.

You will have to be extremely cautious if you do not want to be caught by your enemies.

To execute your enemies you can now use firearms for execution. Other new features to executions in the game are the environmental kills, which can be used to eliminate an opponent.

For example, you can push an enemy face-first into a live fuse box, use telephone cords to strangle an enemy or you can beat an enemy to death in a toilet. Loud ambient noises can now be exploited by the player to drown out their foes.

When you hide in shadows, if an enemy comes close to your character, you will have to mimic a combination of buttons or motions in order to regulate the character s breathing to ensure that he remains calm and undetected. In the Wii version, you must hold the Wii Remote completely still.

Climbing and crawling have been included to increase exploration and exploitation of new hiding places. You can also smash lights to create extra pockets of shadow to be used for hiding.

Some lights are provided with a motion sensor that activates when detecting movements in front of it, forcing you to investigate the dark corners before taking advantage of them.
