Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is a sports game based on Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics. It was developed by Sega and released by both Sega and Nintendo, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii and DS.

Mario and Sonic are for the first time in history in the same game. The two famous rival mascots will be competing to win the gold medal. Here is a game that will give you a preview of the Summer Olympics by playing most of the events. This is your chance to use any character of both series (luigi, wario, waluigi, tails, knuckles, shadow...) and make them compete in 20 Olympics events.

Events cover most of the disciplines including: athletics, gymnastics, shooting, rowing, aquatics, archery, fencing and table tennis. You'll spend hours of fun discovering each sports and specially how to use the wiimote and Nunchuk. The Nintendo console offers you the chance to vary your movements and play each sport differently (instead of simply pressing a button repeatedly). You'll simulate running for the athletics, or throw a javelin with your wiimote (I didn't say throw the wiimote...), or even pulling back on your wiimote to simulate the archery. The game also comes with a wifi connection which will allow you to compare your score to others worldwide.

Nevertheless the truly fun and original games are the "Dream Events" which you'll have to unlock. These games are based mainly on the fictional aspects of both Mario's and Sonic's universe. (The circuit is more or less a Mario Kart).

Mario & Sonic at the Olympics is a good game where you discover finally both series brought together in one game and you have the possibility to make them compete. This will prepare you for the real games and at least you'll have the satisfaction to feel like an athlete and actually winning a gold medal.
